The Met Office has issued an overnight weather warning for ice, with stretches of roads across the local area expected to become hazardous in the early hours.
Icy stretches are expected to form on untreated surfaces on Friday evening and overnight into Saturday morning.
The public are being made aware of the potential for difficult driving conditions.
It’s expected that Bath and North East Somerset Council will be deploying gritters to treat roads in and around the Bath area this evening.
The Met Office’s Chief Forecaster said: “Showers will continue to affect the area into the first part of Friday night, some of which may be wintry on hills.
“Meanwhile, road temperatures will be falling, and ice may form where surfaces are left wet or damp.”
The cold weather is expected to affect Bath and North East Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Dorset, North Somerset, Somerset, Devon, Torbay, Cornwall and Plymouth.
Temperatures are expected to drop below 5ºc this evening and will be around 1ºc throughout the night.
