There was significant traffic disruption in Keynsham after a crash closed the B3116 Wellsway.

Two people were taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath following the collision, which happened near the turn-off to Chewton Keynsham yesterday, Monday 5th January.

Avon Fire & Rescue Service put out a message on social media urging drivers to plan an alternative route as the road was expected to be closed for some time.

In a statement today, the fire service said: “At 3.34pm on Monday 5th January, crews from Hicks Gate and Temple fire stations were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Wellsway, Keynsham.

“All casualties had exited the vehicles before our arrival.

“Firefighters secured the vehicles and worked alongside ambulance service colleagues to provide assistance to the casualties at the scene.

“Officers from Avon & Somerset Police were also in attendance.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 3.27pm on Monday 5th January to a road traffic collision near Keynsham.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.

“We conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Royal United Hospital Bath.”
