In a statement issued tonight, Avon & Somerset Police said: “A woman in her 50s sadly died in an incident at about 9.30am on the A4 Keynsham Bypass today (Monday 30 March).

“Her family have been informed, and our thoughts go out to them at this difficult time.

“The A4 was closed in both directions, but the Bristol-bound carriageway has now reopened.”

The collision closed the bypass in both directions between the Hicks Gate and Bath Road roundabouts.

Keynsham Road was also closed at the junction of Keynsham High Street for several hours while emergency services responded to the incident.

The bypass reopened Bristol-bound shortly after 4pm, and reopened fully a few hours later.
