Plans to turn a garage in Tunley into a holiday let have been approved by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The conversion plans for the garage at 1 North Hill Cottages, Tunley Road, include adding a dormer to the rear.

The garage is 40 metres from the house. Two parking spaces are to be provided for the three-bed holiday let, and two parking spaces serve 1 North Hill Cottage.

Occupancy of the holiday let will be restricted to a maximum of six guests at any one time.

Dunkerton & Tunley Parish Council supported the plans for the site, which is in the Green Belt, but there was one objection from a local resident about the scale of the development, and that the “significant” traffic and parking increases would affect the layby outside the garage, which is used by visitors to nearby properties, as well as walkers and those using the equestrian centre at Withyditch Lane.

Given the 50mph speed limit on the road, it would pose safety issues, the objector added.

But B&NES planners did not consider the proposal would be inappropriate development in the Green Belt and said the design and scale were acceptable, along with access and parking arrangements.
