A group of women from Bath Islamic Society have been enjoying taster sessions in a range of different learning activities provided by City of Bath College.
The group have attended sessions in silk-painting and yoga run by the College’s Adult Community Learning team.
Most recently they visited the College to try their hand at sewing as part of a ‘Draw with Stitch’ creative sewing workshop.
The Adult Community Learning Team has been working with Bath Islamic Society to encourage its members to access more of the learning opportunities at City of Bath College.
Community Learning Development Worker, Christina Chow, said: “Some people can find approaching big institutions intimidating – especially if it means understanding new processes and perhaps even a new language.
“The Adult Community Learning team has been working with the Bath Islamic Society to support their members to sample the wide variety of excellent learning opportunities that the College provides.
“The women have enjoyed their taster sessions and I know their first visit to the College was a very positive experience. As they get to know the College better, I hope they will consider taking advantage of the many interesting courses on offer.”
One of the women, Zalima Drus, said: “I’ve really enjoyed the taster sessions that have been provided by City of Bath College. They have been a lot of fun and I’ve learnt a lot.”
