Entries for the 2013 Bath Half Marathon, which will be staged on Sunday 3rd March, are now open at the Bath Half website.
As one of the UK’s longest standing and most popular road races, the Bath Half has sold out quickly every year since 2000 and event organisers are keen to urge local runners to get their entries in early to avoid disappointment.
Andrew Taylor, Race Director, from Running High, said, “The 2012 race was a huge success, with almost 12,000 runners completing the course and an estimated 30,000 spectators lining the streets of Bath to show their support on a warm sunny day.”
The race is famed for its fast, flat course, which attracts top British and overseas elite athletes and experienced club runners. Larger city centre road races such as the Bath Half are also particularly popular with recreational and charity runners, whilst the 2-lap course ensures good opportunities for spectators and crowd support around the whole course, and Bath as a popular tourist city attracts entrants from across the UK and abroad.
In recent years the Bath Half has become more and more popular with celebrities, including Dermot O’Leary, Nell McAndrew and Nadia Sawalha.
Entries are now open for the half marathon and for the Corporate Challenge for business teams.
Entries for the Family Fun Run will open soon.
Now in its 32nd year, the Bath Half Marathon is the biggest single day fundraising event in the South West; raising £1.5million in 2012 for over 70 different local and national charities.
Mel Taylor, Charity Director at Running High commented: “There are so many fantastic charities out there achieving remarkable results for different causes and oozing enthusiasm for what they do and we are keen for them to benefit from the Bath Half. Our application process for charities wishing to apply for reserved official race charity places is now open”.
