One of the most irreverent and bonkers productions in a long while but Tony! unsurprisingly comes with a disclaimer that it has not been endorsed by anyone connected with those New Labour years.

The ensemble company create larger-than-life representations of the figures who surrounded the journey from long-haired wannabe rock star through to the war-mongering, smooth charmer that so many grew to know.
The many musical numbers are well performed with the occasional moments of actually dipping below the satire and becoming far more thought-provoking. “I Never Did Anything Wrong” by a Marx brother styled Saddam Hussein is a highlight, whilst the final number actually hits home in these chaotic times.
Jack Whittle as Tony Blair is excellent. A fair resemblance alongside great mannerisms with the goonish empty grin whilst internally plotting the next chapter.
The whole cast work seamlessly together whilst Howard Samuels as Peter Mandelson is a joy. The script is generally good with the heady pace of the opening dropping for a short time before it finds its rhythm.
There is much to enjoy in this piece. The facts are purposefully blurry and the musical theatre pastiche of many popular songs keep everyone smiling.
There was a huge sense of support at the final curtain with many standing.
It is a niche show, but equally wins the audience due to its energy, talent and general sense of enjoyment.
