An extra 28 trains are being run through Bath Spa station this weekend, to provide additional capacity for visitors to the popular Christmas market.

First Great Western are providing over 11,000 extra seats during Saturday and Sunday, between Bath, Swindon, Westbury, Bristol and Cardiff.

Local residents have already been raising their concerns over the crowding at Bath Spa station each evening, and this weekend is expected to be the busiest yet for the market.

The manager of the station, Todd Graham, said: “It’s is great to see the Christmas Market here in Bath, with over 170 traditional wooden chalet stalls, proving ever popular.

“While our friendly and approachable staff will be on hand to help keep people moving, I would urge customers to allow time for their journeys, as during the evening peak some passengers may not be able to board their first choice train.”
