Since the recent rollout of a new system targeting shoplifters in Bath city centre, police say action is being taken against repeat offenders.
Following a successful trial, the Bath Business Improvement District (Bath BID) rolled out its new Disc system for Bath City Centre Levy Payer businesses earlier this year.
The security app gives them free access to submit GDPR-compliant reports on crime, shoplifting and anti-social behaviour.
Disc is the UK’s leading crime prevention engagement platform, used in more than 550 towns, cities, and areas across the UK and by the police.
In Bath it links businesses, BID marshals and the Neighbourhood Policing Team so that information and intelligence can be shared, allowing instant alerts to be sent out.
The city centre police beat team said: “Since the launch of Disc we have seen many city centre businesses take to the platform and begin sharing information with us and each other, targeting the shoplifters that are targeting them.
“Bath BID have begun to issue Exclusion Notices to repeat offenders, and we continue to work with our ASB Team to issue Community Protection Warnings and Notices, and Criminal Behaviour Orders to the most prolific offenders.”
