But the Blue & Gold demonstrated their growing resilience as they secured a well-earned bonus point on the road, only losing out to the title-chasers in the closing stages.
The fixture in East Sussex came four weeks after the Mavericks won 58-47 at Team Bath Arena. And the hosts were back to full strength as several players returned from Super League stints.
However, Team Bath have also been boosted over the past month by players returning from injury. And with confidence high after victory over NIC Leeds Rhinos in their previous match, the visitors went toe to toe with their high-flying opponents.
The Blue & Gold’s defence once again produced a strong display.
Wing attack Lowri Windsor outperformed a physical London wing defence as Team Bath deservedly took a 26-24 lead into half-time.
The Mavericks drew level at 38-38 by the end of the third quarter and took advantage of a slight performance dip from the visitors at the start of the fourth period to edge ahead.
Team Bath kept battling, though, and London had to dig deep to see out a narrow victory.
The Blue & Gold’s bonus point came for finishing within five goals of their opponents.

The Blue & Gold have a free weekend before visiting Birmingham Panthers on Saturday 9th May (12.30pm).
