The Blue & Gold took on London Mavericks in front of a capacity crowd at Team Bath Arena on Saturday 28th March and were beaten 58-47.

The hosts – who went into the fixture with just one win from their previous seven outings – made a slow start and were eight goals down going into the first Super Shot period.

However, Team Bath – with Lowri Windsor making her first start at WA – managed to cut the gap to 12-9 by the end of the first quarter.

Mavericks won lots of ball in the second quarter and took advantage to secure a 33-19 lead going into half-time.

Orla Farrelly came on at GD for the second half, with Lottie Robinson moving to GK, and the rejigged defence – along with Poppy Tydeman at WD – generated plenty of turnovers.

The Blue & Gold won the third and fourth quarters 15-13 and 13-12 respectively but were unable to claw back the first-half deficit.

Ellen Morgan made a big impact from the bench, winning the most valuable player award for her all-round display.

Team Bath starting seven: GK Sophie Siffre, GD Lottie Robinson, WD Poppy Tydeman, C Becca Hinkins, WA Lowri Windsor, GA Lucy Herdman, GS Lily Jones.

Team Bath impact players: Lucy Button, Ellie Ervine, Orla Farrelly, Katherine Mansfield, Ellen Morgan.

The Blue & Gold are still in penultimate place in the table, two points ahead of bottom side LexisNexis Dragons. However, the Welsh side now have a match in hand.

Team Bath will begin the second half of their league campaign with a visit to London Pulse on Saturday 4th April and follow up by going to Manchester Thunder on Saturday 11th April.

The next match at Team Bath Arena will be on Friday 17th April, when Leeds Rhinos provide the opposition (7pm).

The clash with the West Yorkshire outfit is one of only two home fixtures remaining for the Blue & Gold, who will entertain the Dragons on Saturday 16th May (3pm).

Tickets for both home fixtures, priced from £12 to £20, are available to purchase at netball.teambath.com/tickets.
