There has been a local one-two in West Hockey West Women’s Division 2 East, with Team Bath Buccaneers 4th XI winning the championship and City of Bath 1st XI finishing runners-up.

City of Bath 1st XI have secured runners-up spot in West Hockey West Women’s Division 2 East, meaning a local one-two in the table as Team Bath Buccaneers 4th XI were crowned league champions last month

Although the Buccs went into their final game of the season, on Saturday 11th April, with the title already secured, their opponents BAC 1st XI knew they could deny City of Bath second place.

BAC recorded a 3-1 success at Team Bath, for whom Marci Edwards scored, meaning that the Bristol-based outfit would be runners-up unless City of Bath overcame visitors Royal Wootton Bassett 1st XI the same afternoon.

A goal apiece from Georgie Webb and Grace Leggett put City of Bath two up. And although Bassett pulled one back through Emma Hunter, the hosts emerged 2-1 victors.
