Five teams from the Somerset institution were in action on Big Wednesday, which was staged at Loughborough University, Leicestershire. And Bath emerged with two titles.

Both of Bath’s hockey 1st XIs reached their respective National Vase finals.

The women secured the crown thanks to 3-2 shootout victory over Exeter 1st XI after tying 1-1 in normal time.

Bath had beaten Exeter 2nd XI in the same way in the semi-finals.

The men put up a good performance against Exeter 2nd XI in their final but had to settle for the silver medals, having fallen to a 4-2 defeat.

On the rugby pitch, Bath men’s 3rd XV – who won the Premier South 2 championship the previous week – sealed a league and cup double by beating Leeds Beckett 2nd XV 38-31 in the National Trophy final.

In the netball National Trophy decider, Bath’s seconds rallied from 17-8 down after the opening quarter against Worcester firsts to draw level by half-time, only to be edged out 54-51.

There was also a narrow defeat on the tennis courts, Bath seconds falling to Edinburgh firsts in the women’s National Trophy final against Edinburgh.

The contest was all square after the four singles matches, Holly Huby and Charlotte Jones recording important wins for Bath, but Edinburgh came out on top in both doubles rubbers.

Meanwhile, ticket details for the University of Bath men’s 1st XV’s clash with Durham University in the BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championship semi-finals will soon be available from https://rugby.teambath.com/fixtures-and-results/

The match will be played on the 3G pitch at the Sports Training Village on Wednesday 8th April (6.30pm).

A victory for the hosts will send them into their first Milk Championship final.

Bath have already won the BUCS Super Rugby title this season.
