There are still five months to go until the Vitality Bath Half Marathon (Vitality BATHALF) returns for the 34th year, but with entries coming in at over 800 a week, it’s likely to sell out soon.
The race, which takes place on Sunday 1st March has sold out every year since 2000.
Andrew Taylor, Race Director from Running High said: “I’m really pleased that the race continues to be so popular with runners considering the number of new events that keep popping up all over the UK.
“Entries are coming in extremely fast this year which is fantastic, but we urge those considering running next year to-do so quickly to avoid being disappointed.”
The Vitality BATHALF sees 15,000 runners flock from all corners of the UK and abroad to take part in the long standing event each year.
A high proportion of runners are repeat entrants from previous years, but the race also attracts strong interest from new entrants looking for a once in a lifetime challenge and Vitality BATHALF first timers.
Christopher Steele, 54 from Frome, has been running for 30 years and has taken part in almost every Vitality BATHALF since its inception.
Christopher said: “The Bath Half is my local half marathon and every year I really enjoy taking part. There are a few reasons that I keep coming back: the course is nice and flat; the organisation is brilliant; and the race day atmosphere is fantastic.”
Andrew said: “We particularly appreciate the loyalty of our core BATHALF ‘regulars’ like Christopher who play a key part in the continuing popularity of the event.”
When general entries have sold out the only way to enter will be through reserved charity places or through the Corporate Challenge for business teams.
Runners can sign up to the race through one of this year’s featured charities which are: Teenage Cancer Trust; Jamie’s Farm; Bath Rugby Foundation; the RUH Forever Friends Appeal: and Laureus Sport for Good Foundation or via one of the 90+ other official race charities.
