Lansdown Cricket Club and The Star Cricket Club will be competing on Sunday 5th May in memory of a former member.
The Star CC will head to Combe Park to play Lansdown in the North Somerset Sunday League.
Not only is this the start of the league season, but the game will be played in memory of Rob Parry, who played for The Star over many years and was also the clubhouse manager at Lansdown.
Rob passed away last year, having suffered from cancer, and both clubs will be looking to raise money for RUHX, the official NHS charity of Bath’s Royal United Hospital, and Dorothy House Hospice, which helped Rob and his family in his final months.
Rob’s father will present a trophy to the winning side and Rob’s son, Joel, will unveil a bench at the ground.
Rob was a widely known and loved character around Bath, having run the Paragon Wine Bar and the Garrick’s Head pub in the past, and many people are expected to be at the club to watch the game, which starts at 1.30pm, and join in a range of festivities planned for the day.
There will be a raffle, barbecue and a live band in the evening to complement what will no doubt be a very competitive cricket match. Everyone is welcome.
