The Chairman of the Council, Councillor Martin Veal, is to attend this year’s Remembrance Day service at Haycombe Cemetery in Bath on Tuesday.
The service has been organised by the Council’s Bereavement Services team and will take place on Tuesday 11th November.
It will begin at 10.45am on the grassed area between the Cross of Sacrifice and the Blitz Graves within the cemetery grounds.
The Chairman also attended two services on Remembrance Sunday yesterday.
He was at Keynsham’s Annual Remembrance Parade and St John the Baptist Church Service from 9am to 12 noon, and the Bath Remembrance Day Procession followed by a service at Bath Abbey, in the afternoon.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Paul Crossley, and Chief Executive, Dr Jo Farrar, lay wreaths on the Council’s behalf at the Royal British Legion Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial in Royal Victoria Park, Bath, which took place yesterday morning, Sunday 9th November.
The Council’s Vice Chairman, Cllr Ian Gilchrist, attended Remembrance Sunday services at Royal British Legion Club in High Street, Midsomer Norton and at Waterloo Road in Radstock.
Cllr Veal said: “This is an important time for the whole nation and the people of Bath and North East Somerset to remember those who gave their lives so gallantly and also to remember those who lost their lives in the Bath Blitz in 1942.”
