Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for help from the public to identify a man after a distraction burglary at the home of an elderly disabled man in Bath.

It happened at around 3.20pm on Tuesday 4th November at sheltered accommodation in the Weston area.

A man rang the doorbell, called the 87-year-old owner by his name and showed him some identification, which he was unable to read because of his visual impairment.

The man than entered the flat. While the owner was in another room taking a phone call, the man left and the owner later found that a large amount of money was missing from his wallet.

The suspect is described as white, taller than 5ft, aged between 30-40 and spoke with a giggle.

He was carrying a large bag and was driving a blue VW Golf.

Anyone who recognises the man or who has any information, or who may have had unexpected callers at their home in the Weston area, is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 114998.
