Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for the public’s help to find two absconders from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire, who went missing on Saturday afternoon.

The two men Daniel Shankly and Daniel Wynne were last seen at about 12.50pm and failed to appear for the 4.45pm roll call.

It is believed they absconded together but it is possible they may have split up after they left HMP Leyhill.

Daniel Shankly, aged 30 is described at a white man, about 6ft 3ins tall of slim build.  He has short brown spikey hair, is clean shaven and has a tattoo on his right upper arm with the words “Rip Nan.”

He is serving a life sentence after being convicted of murder in 2001.

Daniel Wynne, aged 29, is described as a white man, 5ft 7ins tall of stocky build. He has a shaved head and speaks with a Welsh accent.

He has a tattoo on his left arm with the name “Danny.”

He was given a two-year sentence for assault with an indeterminate release date.

Daniel Shankly is known to have links with Weston-super-Mare, while Daniel Wynne has links to the Caerphilly area of South Wales. It is not known if they have split up or remain together.

Police would like members of the public who spot both or either of the men, to contact them via the 999 emergency number.

Officers are advising anyone spotting the men not to approach them but call 999 immediately.
