Shortly before 10.30am on Sunday (10th May) police were called to a residential address in Hillside View regarding a welfare concern for the occupant.

Upon arrival, a 55 year old woman was found inside the property with serious head injuries.

She was airlifted to Southmead Hospital where she sadly died from her injuries yesterday (11th May).

As a result of police enquiries, a 22-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in connection with this incident.

He remains in police custody as our enquiries continue.

Today (12th May), a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

He also remains in police custody at this time.

A post-mortem examination is currently underway and formal identification has not yet been carried out.

Detective Inspector Lorna Dallimore from the Major Crime Investigation Unit at Avon and Somerset Police said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding whilst our investigation continues.

“I would also like to appeal for anyone who may have information regarding this incident to come forward immediately.

“No matter how insignificant you think this information could be, it might be crucial to our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Avon and Somerset Police immediately on 101 or anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
