Avon and Somerset Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after three men in their late 40s followed and assaulted another group in Bath on Saturday 8th October.
The incident began in the High Street at about 9.30pm. A group of six men and six women aged between 18 and 26 were leaving the bar to catch their bus home.
There was an altercation between some of their group and three men who then followed them as they made their way towards Bath Abbey.
When they reached the Abbey three of the friends, two men and a woman, were pushed over the railings, falling several feet and suffering scrapes and bruises. Another man was bitten on the arm, a second woman had her hair pulled and was elbowed in the face, and a third woman was bruised after being pushed into a car and onto the floor.
The three men responsible for this apparently unprovoked assault are all described as being white and in their late 40s or 50s:
- 1 had spiky grey hair, wearing a pale blue or grey short-sleeved shirt;
- 2 had dark greying hair, wore a bright blue polo shirt and was said to be very tall and of large build;
- 3 was described as bald or with a shaved hair.
PC 558 Biro said: “A number of people were in the area at the time of the incident. We had a number calls about it as it happened and several people came to help this group of young people.
“It seems that at some point the three men were joined by three women. I’m very keen to speak to anyone who saw anything connected to this incident, either in the High Street or in Orange Grove.
“I’d ask anyone who has any information which could help us to get in touch through our online form, www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5216224552.”
