Avon and Somerset Police are asking people in the Combe Down area of Bath to contact them if they’ve been approached at home by two young men asking for money.
There were two such incidents on Bradford Road on 1st February.
The men, in their mid-20s, knocked on the front doors of two homes, saying they’d been playing rugby at the Glass House playing fields and had had their bags, phones, keys and money stolen.
At one house, they asked for money to catch the bus home to Radstock and were given the £4.60 fare.
One man was described as having short dark hair, wearing dark sportswear with a dark maroon top and carrying a claret-coloured towel. He spoke with an Australian, New Zealand or South African accent.
Officers are unsure if this was a legitimate appeal for help or a wider fraud.
Anyone who has been approached or who has any information about the men is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 5216023172 or 170.
