Older people living in Peasedown St John are being invited to a free Christmas lunch, organised and hosted by the village’s Residents’ Association.

Featuring a traditional festive Christmas meal and Christmas sing-a-longs, this is the fourth year running the association has hosted the event.

Peasedown councillor Karen Walker (Independent) has helped the Residents’ Association secure over £1,000 in funds this year.

She said: “Older people living in the community are being given another treat this Christmas. Following on from the Parish Council’s tea party for the elderly, and the senior citizens lunch cooked by young people at the local youth centre, this is the third such event for those over 60 years old.

“We really appreciate the role that older people play in Peasedown, and the contribution they’ve made to village life over the years.

“This is another way for us to say thank you, and to ensure they’re treated, with all the trimmings, this Christmas time.”

Midsomer Norton-based restaurant Sweet Chillies are providing all the vegetables and potatoes for the event.

The Peasedown St John Residents’ Association Older Person’s Christmas meal will be held on Thursday 15th December, at 1pm at St John’s Close Hall.

To reserve a place and for more details contact the Residents Association Chair, Joy Gosz on 07895 572411, or Rose Timperley on 07902 266384.

Entertainment will be provided.
