Visitors to Royal Victoria Park will be able to benefit from an hour’s free parking from later this week, as part of changes being introduced by Bath & North East Somerset Council to help more people to enjoy the park.

The new parking arrangements will be introduced from 5th August, 2016, to ensure that those wishing to make use of the wide variety of facilities at Royal Victoria Park for a short period of time (up to 1 hour) will be able to enjoy the benefit of this high quality park for free.

Motorists wanting to stay for this free hour can get a free ticket from the machines to display in their vehicle.

In addition, the four hour maximum stay will be extended to the whole of Royal Victoria Park this autumn so that visitors wishing to make use of the facilities for periods longer than 2 hours can also enjoy their time there for longer.

Cllr Anthony Clarke (Conservative, Lansdown), Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We’re very pleased to offer this improved facility for visitors to Royal Victoria Park so that more people can enjoy more time in the beautiful surroundings.

“The Cabinet is delivering on its commitment to offering an hour’s free parking at the park – and this, coupled with the extension of 4-hour stays throughout the park, will help people to relax and enjoy the wide variety of attractions at their leisure.”

The new parking scheme will include improvements as follows:

  • 1 hour – FREE ticket provided by the machine (previously 50p)
  • 2 hours – £1
  • 3 hours – £3
  • 4 hours – £4 (extended across the whole of the park, not just selected areas, this autumn)
