More than 700 riders have pedalled their way around the Somerset and Wiltshire countryside as part of the tenth annual Bike Bath cycling event.
Those taking part completed distances of 25, 50 or 70 miles whilst raising funds for a host of good causes, including the event’s official supported charity Dorothy House Hospice.
This year’s event saw new start and finish locations in Frome and Devizes, as well as Bath’s Recreation Ground.
The event received support from many local businesses, including HPH who sponsored the medium 50-mile route and the Bath Recreation Trust who partnered with the event in addition to providing use of the Recreation Ground.
Members from cycling club VC Walcot also helped out on the day.
Linda Hitchcox who rode the 50 mile route from Devizes said: “What a fantastic route, so clearly signposted and great feed stations. When I did have a problem, the emergency contact sorted me no problem. Thank you so much, I have thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Another rider, Danny Davis, who started in Bath commented: “Thank you for a fantastic event! Great route, great after party and a really friendly day.”
Organisers of Bike Bath try to encourage cyclists of all abilities to take part and promote it as a fun, friendly event for cyclists of all.
Event organiser Jacko Jackson said: “It’s been a good day – given covid caution – we’ve seen a fantastic turn out of cyclists, most of whom appear to have had a really enjoyable time.
“I’d like to thank everyone for their support for the event – from local businesses, the riders and our volunteers – all of whom make the event possible.
The atmosphere and positive vibes at the event have been great. Of course the sunshine certainly helps, but I’m delighted to see the positive support continuing for the event.”
Organisers of Bike Bath also run The Bath Marches, which is taking place on Saturday 18th September.
