A 16-year-old boy was threatened and robbed of his rucksack in Woodhouse Road, Twerton, between 8.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday (1/1).

A member of the public went to his aid and chased the two offenders into Rodney House, where he managed to get the victim’s belongings back.

This incident happened shortly after a 29-year-old man was robbed of his wallet as he walked along a footpath through St Michael’s churchyard.

He suffered a broken nose after being assaulted during the robbery and was taken to the Royal United Hospital for treatment.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Leon Swaby, of Bath CID, said: “We are treating these two incidents as linked as they both happened within the space of 10 minutes.

“We are very keen to speak to the man who went to help the teenage victim and bravely chased the offenders, as he has information which could be extremely important to our investigation.

“We have arrested four men, all aged between 18 and 23, on suspicion of robbery and they are in custody for questioning.”

If you are the Good Samaritan or know who he is, or if you have information about these incidents, please call Det Sgt Swaby via the 24-hour non-emergency number 101.
