Organisers of Peasedown St John’s summer festival, Party in the Park, have appointed a new Entertainment Manager for the event coming up in 2013.
His role will be to recruit bands and performers and ensure more than 3,000 people are entertained for 7 hours at next year’s event.
Danny Brothers, who lives with his wife Martha and daughter Faith in the village, has taken up the position. He said: “Party in the Park is the biggest event in the local calendar. It’s a good opportunity for families and friends to get together to enjoy live music, take part in activities and have a fun day out. In its short four-year history it has done a lot to put the village on the cultural map, build community spirit and bring pride to the people that live here.”
“When I was asked by Nathan Hartley to take up the role I jumped at the chance. It will be a challenge – but I am looking forward to working on the 2013 event already.“
Danny takes over the role from Jerry Curd – who worked at this year’s Jubilee Party in the Park. With an official attendance figure of 3,089 people and raising more than £4,000 on the day it was the most successful event to date.
Party in the Park Secretary Mandy Clarke commented: “Jerry worked well with the team to put on a great festival this year. Peasedown’s Jubilee party certainly won’t be forgotten in a long time.
“We are now though looking forward to working with Danny. He has a lot of enthusiasm, energy and his interest in music will be an asset to the team.”
Bands and other performers can start applying in January to take part in Midsummer Party in the Park 2013 – which will be held on Beacon Field on Saturday 22nd June from 12noon – 7pm.
