A festival due to be held over the Bank Holiday has caused a backlash after being cancelled, just two days before it was due to begin.
The Last Jubilee, a punk festival, which was set to take place up at Bath Racecourse from the 2nd to the 4th June was cancelled due to health and safety fears by the owners of the racecourse.
An earlier statement posted on the website of the organisers of the event had blamed Bath and North East Somerset Council for the cancelling of the festival. In a statement released by the Council regarding it, it said the cancellation is entirely down to the owners of the racecourse and it had had no input.
The racecourse said: “Unfortunately, the organisers have failed to fulfil their contractual obligations and the racecourse has taken the difficult decision to withdraw the use of the venue due to breach of contract and health and safety concerns.
“Bath Racecourse will not compromise on the quality of the events it stages or on the safety of its customers. Whilst this has been a difficult decision, we believe it was the only responsible option.“
The organisers said: “We have strived at every turn to comply with the venues demands re: security, noise, capacity, health & safety etc. And had completed an extensive Event Management Plan which the venue had been in possession of for many weeks.”
The Last Jubilee was due to feature acts such as Buzzcocks, Bad Manners, The Damned, and Buzzcocks.
The racecourse has advised ticket holders to contact the outlet or agent at which they purchased tickets with Jamonit Events saying: “Please be assured that you will receive a full refund on your ticket purchases in due course.“
Tickets for the festival cost visitors £45 for a day ticket and £125 for a weekend ticket.
