The Forever Friends Appeal has announced this year’s key fundraising events, including their annual Fire Walk and new for 2017, the Walk of Life, which will be taking place in May.
The annual Fire & Ice Walk, where local residents are asked to brave the blaze and conquer the cold to help transform patient care at Bath’s Royal United Hospital, takes place on Sunday 5th March.
It will be held at Bath’s Recreational Ground and will feature special appearances from Bath Rugby Club.
Registration costs £30, which includes a t-shirt, and there’s a sponsorship pledge of £100 minimum.
This year The Forever Friends Appeal has extended the event to include ‘glass walking’ as well as the more traditional ‘fire walking’ for that extra thrill.
Funds raised from the fire, ice and glass walk will go towards the The Forever Friends Appeal’s RUH Cancer Care Campaign, raising a minimum of £8.5 million towards the build of an exceptional Cancer Centre at the RUH, or another area or department in the hospital that is close to your heart.
The second fundraising event this year is the Walk of Life 2017, taking place on Saturday 13th May.
The walk will take place between Bishops Cannings (near Devizes) – Bradford on Avon – Bath.
The Walk of Life is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the life and memories of your loved ones, whilst making a real difference to patients and their families at Bath’s Royal United Hospital.
Join hundreds of others across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire for this popular walk along the Kennet and Avon canal.
Open to both men and women, entry to the Walk of Life costs just £15 per person (valid until 31st Jan 17) or £20 after.
You can sign up to join in the full 26.2 miles (new longer distance) along the beautiful Kennet and Avon canal from Devizes to Bath or walk 10 miles in the afternoon from Bradford On Avon to Bath.
Glastonbury Founder Michael Eavis CBE is the official ambassador for the 2017 Walk of Life. Michael will be attending the walk’s starting point in Bishops Cannings to meet and greet walkers, before joining participants as they begin their marathon route from The Crown Inn along the Kennet and Avon Canal.
