At a Council meeting last night, it was announced that Wellsway will be having a cycle lane added for cyclists travelling up the road.

The cycle lane will cost Bath and North East Somerset Council £35,000 to construct, with overall costs for the project reaching £40,000.

The funding for this will be made available after the Council Cabinet approved a £500,000 programme of cycle schemes for 2013/14 at the same meeting.

The new programme also includes new signage being introduced between the Two Tunnels and the Odd Down Cycle Circuit to encourage and help people get between the two.

Plans for a bridge over the river at the Batheaston car park and a cycle/pedestrian path running through the meadows linking to Mill Lane were also granted funding, with the Council putting £280,000 into the project. This plan was first raised by Batheaston Parish Council in the Batheaston Vision Plan in 2009.
