Local residents are facing delays and disruption to their journeys across the area as the forecast bad weather hits Bath.

The strong winds and rain is already causing disruption on trains through Bath Spa station, with a number of services being cancelled by First Great Western.

The weather has come at a bad time with shoppers looking to make the most of the early sales just in time for Christmas.

Traffic was queuing along the A4 London Road this morning and car parks were quickly filling up as shoppers braved the stormy downpours.

Winds of up to 40mph have been reported across Bath, with nearly 13mm of rain dropping across the area today.

The Met Office have issued an amber weather warning (the 2nd highest), with added warning that the area should be prepared for the likelihood of localised flooding due to the already saturated ground following rainfall throughout the past week.

The ferocious weather is set to continue overnight and well into Christmas Eve, causing more disruption for travellers on their way home for Christmas.
