It was a surprisingly pleasant Sunday afternoon when Bath Rugby Ladies team took on Trojans at Lambridge in Bath.
The home side started well and kept possession for a period, but a turnover ball caught the Bath side out of position and the visitors were able to take an early lead.
But the Bath Ladies were determined not to let the early error affect them and they continued in the manner in which they started – the back row, Short, Mahoney and Burgess, were on particularly good form and were assisted all the way by second row Becky Thompson.
Scrums were competitive but the home side had the edge and were able to use them to their advantage and allowed some good ball for the backs.
Centres Holloway and Southwell were the perfect partnership and strung together some good attacking play with help from the rest of the backs!
But some good turnovers from the Trojans meant they too were not without the ball for long and were able to capitalise on that before the half time break, taking half time score to 0-12.
The second half showed much of the same as the first half, with some great scrummaging and fast paced rugby. And the home side continued to fight for the ball, but the effort was too much and the pace began to show and a last ditch effort from the visitors gave them a flattering score line of 0-19 at full time.
Man of the Match went to forward Becky Thompson for great leadership and massive work rate. And Kat Southwell took the honour for the backs showing some great attacking play and strong defensive work.
Their next game is away at Hove RFC on Sunday 15th Dec.
NOW Bath proudly sponsors the Bath Rugby Ladies team and we wish them well in their next game!
