Avon and Somerset Police have issued new CCTV pictures of a woman they want to talk to about the theft of a handbag belonging to a 79-year-old from Waitrose café in the city centre.

She had hung her bag over the back of the chair on the morning of Thursday May 29, at around 11.25am.

A woman was seen to sit behind her, then take the handbag and leave the café quickly with it. She met a man outside and they both walked off in the direction of New Bond Street.

Anyone who recognises the woman in the CCTV photos, or the woman herself, is asked to contact PC Mark Hodder on 101, quoting crime number 51275/13.

Police are reminding shoppers to be vigilant about their property, particularly bags and mobile phones, and to keep it secure at all times.

You can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or contact them via www.crimestoppers-uk.org. They never ask for your name or trace your call. You can also contact police in confidence via their website www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact
