Ben Howlett, who was elected as the MP for Bath in 2015, has been re-selected by Bath Conservative Association as their candidate in the 2017 General Election, being held on Thursday 8th June.
At a meeting of the Bath Conservative Association, held on Friday evening, 28th April, Ben was confirmed as the candidate unanimously.
Speaking at the event, Ben said he felt very honoured: “To represent such a beautiful, creative, dynamic and historic City is a great pleasure and I am genuinely humbled to be chosen again as your candidate, unanimously.
“In two years, working with the Prime Minister and Government, we’ve made real progress on my “Six Point Plan” and many local issues that had stalled for decades – not least, Bath’s traffic and transport.
“I’ve spoken up strongly for Bath in Westminster and in Whitehall, and helped many hundreds of constituents through my surgeries.
“I pledge to continue working tirelessly for our wonderful city, to ensure Bath becomes an even better place to live, for everyone who calls it home.”
Ben said the election in less than six weeks time is one of the most important since 1945, with a straight choice between Theresa May and a Conservative government, or the ‘huge risk’ of Jeremy Corbyn in Number 10, with the support of Lib Dems and the SNP.
“Every single vote will count, in Bath in particular. We now have more work to do, to help Theresa May secure the best deal for Britain during Brexit, and beyond.”
Ben and the Conservatives won in Bath in 2015, with a majority of 3,833.
