Cyclists of all abilities are being encouraged to take part in the very first Love2Cycle Sportive (#love2cyclesportive) in Bath and North East Somerset on Saturday 20th May.
The #love2cyclesportive is supported by Bristol Airport and KLM and has Olympic gold medalist Dani King as its ambassador.
It is a non-competitive, organised bike ride, ideal for amateurs, as they can choose to take part in a 33 mile or 71 mile route.
The #love2cyclesportive starts at Royal Avenue in Bath on the morning of 20th May, and travels along cycle paths and lanes through the Somer and Chew Valleys.
It takes in towns and villages including Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Chew Magna, Pensford, Butcombe, West Harptree, East Harptree, Cameley, Paulton, Timsbury, Peasedown St John, Wellow, Hinton Charterhouse, and Midford.
Councillor Tim Warren (Conservative, Mendip), Leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “The #love2cyclesportive has been organised on the day Bath hosts the first ever Saturday night stage of The Tour Series, and those taking part in the sportive will finish their ride under the Tour Series finish line on Great Pulteney Street.
“It’s a great opportunity for individuals, or groups of friends or families, to get involved in an organised ride taking in some spectacular countryside across our area.”
There will be a break at the Farmborough Inn with food provided as part of the entry cost. Those taking the longer route will also have an organised stop at Chew Valley and Midsomer Norton Sports Centres.
Riders under 16 able can take part for free if accompanied by an adult. You can find out more and enter at www.bathnes.gov.uk/tourseries.
