More than 150 local residents have already contacted the Bath and North East Somerset Energy at Home scheme to improve the energy-efficiency of their homes.
The Bath and North East Somerset Energy at Home Partnership is a partnership between Bath & North East Somerset Council, Curo, Bath & West Community Energy and other stakeholders.
The Partnership’s purpose is to champion carbon reduction, affordable warmth, health and well-being, community engagement and economic development through home energy retro-fitting.
Home energy assessments have been carried out on more than 100 properties and the occupants are now obtaining quotes and making applications for support and finance to carry out improvements.
The scheme was launched in September and is already being hailed as a great success because of the uptake by residents in the first two months.
To help local businesses meet the demand for energy improvements to people’s homes, B&NES Energy at Home scheme has launched a new Trade Support service.
The service offers subsidised training, Buy with Confidence membership and Green Deal certification.
Councillor Ben Stevens (Lib-Dem, Widcombe), the Council’s Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development, said: “We are pleased with the response from residents to the first two months of the scheme.
“We want to support local businesses keen to gain sustainable construction skills and Green Deal certification.
“We believe there are real business opportunities coming for those working in the construction and trades businesses through the B&NES Energy at Home scheme, which is currently offering grants to residents to help them carry out energy-saving improvements to their home.”
