Campaigners in Lambridge have welcomed the start of works today to convert the Larkhall Square toilet block into a shop with an attached public toilet cubicle.

Lib Dem campaigners Rob Appleyard & Yukteshwar Kumar
The conversion work begins following an agreement between Bath and North East Somerset Council and a local business.
Lambridge Lib Dem campaigner, Rob Appleyard, commented: “The Lib Dem-run Council has been working hard to improve public toilets across the district.
“Not only have they invested £2m to improve public toilets in the most-used locations, but they have secured the future of toilets in outer areas such as Larkhall and Weston.
“It is good news that a deal has been reached with a local business to convert the unit into a shop with public toilet.
“This will be a great addition to the local shopping scene and will maintain provision of a toilet at a much reduced cost to the Council.”
Lambridge Lib Dem campaigner, Yukteshwar Kumar, commented: “The Council has been very open to innovative ideas to help keep public toilets open. Indeed, partnership working and listening to residents have been hallmarks of the current Lib Dem administration.
“Years of under-investment by the previous Conservative administration left our public toilets in a very run-down and unpleasant state.
“Now the toilet will be renovated and run by a local business and residents will be able to use it free-of-charge. This is a good outcome, which will be welcomed by local residents.”

Independent Councillors Bryan Chalker and Dave Laming
Lambridge Independent Councillors Dave Laming and Bryan Chalker have also welcomed the news.
Cllr Laming said: “It’s been a long wait for the residents of Larkhall, but I’m sure it will be a great asset to our village square.”
