A special exhibition of the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year will be on show in the Octagon at Milsom Place in Bath (9th to 19th October) as part of the Great Bath Feast.

The competition is a global celebration of the art of food photography both amateur and professional, young and old. In just three years is has become recognised as a major cultural event, with thousands of images coming from the far corners of the globe.

6000 images were entered into Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2014 and the overall winner, Tessa Bunney was presented with a cheque for £5000 for her image “Noodle Making “from her series ‘Home Work’ exploring ‘craft’ villages in the villages around Hanoi, Vietnam.

Tessa said “one of her aims is to promote and tell the stories of small food producers and farmers around the world through her work.”

The exhibition follows a theme central to The Great Bath Feast 2014, A Feast for the Eyes, exploring how all the senses contribute to the enjoyment of food and drink.

Sarah Mansfield, Director of Milsom Place said: “We are delighted to be hosting this extraordinary exhibition of food photography during the Great Bath Feast. The quality and variety of the entries is most impressive”.

The Octagon was formerly the home of the Royal Photographic Society so has been the venue for many important photographic exhibitions.

Director of the competition, Caroline Kenyon said: “What inspired is the proliferation of wonderful food photography in a huge variety of applications. It’s everywhere, from eye-catching advertising hoardings, to sumptuous editorial features, from tempting food packaging to daily blogs. The awards celebrate this magnificent diversity in what is truly, the stuff of life.”

Judges over the last three years have included Alex James, musician-turned-cheese maker, Martin Parr, documentary photographer, Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens, Antonio Carluccio, Dr Nathan Myrvhold, award-winning photographer, chef and scientist, and James Averdieck, founder of Gu Chocolate Puds.

The awards cover fourteen categories, ranging from Food in the Street, Food in the Field, Food Portraiture and of course, young categories in three age groups.

“The Pink Lady® brand has been headline sponsor for this award since its inception”, said Andy Macdonald, Managing Director of Pink Lady® UK.

“High quality, engaging photography is central to how Pink Lady® communicates with its fans around the world and we are proud to acknowledge and congratulate people for their incredible work behind the camera.”
