Fire engines from Radstock, Bath, Kingswood, Southmead and Avonmouth fire stations were called to reports of a fire in the village of Wellow, near Bath, last night.

Crews were called to the High Street at around 9.45pm yesterday evening.

On arrival firefighters found a farm building used as a workshop alight with a number of gas cylinders involved.

Crews remained on the scene for much of the night after the fire was extinguished using two 45mm fixed jets.

The cylinders were cooled by crews on the scene.

Due to a cordon being set up because of the cylinders, a number of people living in the area were evacuated from their homes for a short time.

They were allowed to return later.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
