Firefighters from Bath’s fire station tackled a fire in a flat inside a three-storey building in Snow Hill yesterday afternoon.
When crews arrived on the scene at 4.19pm, they were told there could be someone inside the premises, so four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus forced entry into the property.
A thorough search by firefighters revealed no one was inside at the time.
Crews extinguished the fire using two high pressure hose reels and a 45mm jet.
It’s thought the fire started accidentally after cooking was left unattended.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service have taken the opportunity to remind people to take care when cooking and never leave it unattended as it could lead to fire breaking out. Always switch off appliances after use.
The flat was left damaged by smoke after the fire.
