A resilience fire crew covering the Bath area rushed to a flat on Saturday afternoon after reports of a fire alarm going off at the property in the north of the city.

Avon Fire & Rescue Service was called at 12.09pm to reports of a fire alarm going off in one of the flats in Swainswick Gardens in Lower Swainswick.

One resilience fire engine crew attended the call as this was during the period of industrial action between 12pm and 2pm.

On arrival crews found it was a false alarm after cooking fumes had set off the fire alarm.

Saturday was the last day for planned industrial strike action, though more days are likely to be announced in the future.
