Bath & North East Somerset Council is this summer, for the first time, offering a programme of free family play activities at parks across the area.
Each session will involve one or two simple play activities; this may include mud painting, kite making, traditional games, mini-beast hunts, family forest school, bat walks and more.
The sessions will be led by a play officer from the Council’s Parks Department, with support from local play workers. People can drop in at any time; there is no need to book.
Councillor Martin Veal (Conservative, Bathavon North), Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “I’d encourage families to come along and get involved in these traditional play activities – it’s a chance to have fun with other children and also to get to know some of our fantastic parks.
“We have over 150 parks and play areas that can be used by residents across the whole Bath and North East Somerset area.”
Play sessions are being organised by the Council’s parks team and will run from 2 – 4pm on the following dates:
August
- Thursday 6th – Woodborough Road, Radstock, BA3 3HY
- Thursday 13th – Kelston Rd / Queens Rd Park, Keynsham, BS31 2NS
- Wednesday 19th – Carrs Wood, BA2 1RZ
- Thursday 20th – Manor Road Community Woodland, Keynsham, BS31 1SF
