Over 3,400 students will be graduating from the University of Bath next week during three days of celebratory ceremonies at Bath Abbey.
The twelve ceremonies will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (4th-6th July) with His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex officiating as Chancellor at a number of the ceremonies.
The University will also recognise the achievements and contributions of 13 individuals who will be awarded honorary degrees, including former Universities and Science Minister Lord Willetts and the first female Bishop The Rt Reverend Libby Lane.
The ceremonies will be preceded by a public procession of the University’s senior officers and academics, staring at the Guildhall and finishing at Bath Abbey.
During the processions, nearby roads will be temporarily closed to traffic for about six minutes, which will occur at approximately 9.55am, 11.05am (return), 12.10pm, 1.20pm (return), 2.40pm, 3.50pm (return), 4.55pm and 6.05pm (return).
To allow for the graduation ceremonies to take place, Bath Abbey will only be open in the evening on Monday between 5.00pm and 7.30pm with Tower Tours running at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm; and will be closed all day Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, resuming normal opening hours on Friday.
