Local care provider Way Ahead Care have been announced as winners in 2 awards at the Care & Support West (CSW) Awards at a glittering ceremony at Bath Racecourse.

170 representatives of the local care industry, regulatory body (CQC) and local councils attended a gala dinner for the annual presentation.

Barbara Lowe, Way Ahead Care’s Care Manager, was the first winner of the night, winning her category of Best Home Care Manager. Sue Rogers collected the Best Home Care Front Line Worker later in the evening to make it a double for Way Ahead Care.

Now in its second year, the CSW Awards celebrate the unsung heroes throughout the care industry, giving an opportunity to honour and congratulate those have demonstrated values of dignity and personalisation in their particular care setting.

Candidates are nominated by relatives, managers, colleagues, clients and professionals.

Winners are subsequently selected by a judging panel made up of representatives from local authorities, the domiciliary care sector, the residential home sector, CQC and CSW’s main sponsor. The award is available to all staff and managers who work in the four ex-Avon unitary authorities.

In a statement on the awards win, Way Ahead Care said: “In a world of negative press, rising standards and an ageing population, pressure on the care industry has never been higher. It can be all too easy to overlook the brilliant work that goes on day in, day out across the region.

“Way Ahead Care appreciates that recognition of a job well done is a wonderful morale booster and will continue to nominate its staff in awards such as these.”

Barbara and Sue will now be put forward as nominees for the South West regional Great British Care Awards held in Bristol later this year.
