Avon and Somerset Police have discovered a suspected cannabis factory in Twerton High Street, after being called by a member of the public on Wednesday afternoon, 8th March.
The caller said there was a strong smell at the property and no one would answer the door. Officers found no one at home in the rented property but the top two floors of the house had been converted into growing rooms.
More than 100 4in tall plants were seized from one area while a further 100 18in plants were found in a second room.
The plants, believed to be cannabis, are due to be tested and enquiries are continuing.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Jon Raisey said: “We’re grateful for the community information which led to this investigation. The criminals who produce cannabis often bypass the electricity meter to power the lights and fans needed for their crop.
“They have no regard for the potential fire risk. Often cannabis is produced in rented homes, so that risk of fire then affects neighbouring properties, as has happened in Bath before now.”
Anyone with any information which could help the investigation is asked to get in touch online or by calling 101, quoting reference 5217051795.
