A 37-year-old man, arrested as part of the ongoing police investigation into the murder of Thomas Downey on Christmas Eve in Bath, has been released without charge.

Darrell Richards, aged 46, of no fixed address, has been charged with the murder of Mr Downey.

He appeared at Bristol Crown Court on 5th January and was remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court for a further appearance on 17th April.

The body of Thomas Downey was found under an archway, just off the Lower Bristol Road on Wednesday 24th December.

He died from significant head injuries.

Police divers searched the area near Churchill Bridge to try and find the weapon used during the murder.

Officers are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area near to the station in Lower Bristol Road around lunchtime on Christmas Eve.

If anyone has any information, they would like them to contact the Major Crime Investigation Team on the force number 101.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line using the following link bit.ly/1pwX4Zm.
