A 57-year-old man with drug addiction issues has been given a 64-week suspended jail sentence after being caught growing cannabis in breach of a community order.

Bath Magistrates’ Court heard on Wednesday 17th December that Daniel Nash cultivated the four plants at his home in Burleigh Gardens to self-medicate for pain while awaiting a leg amputation.
District Judge Lynne Matthews revoked the order and resentenced Nash for the offences for which it had been first imposed, including a burglary in Abbey View when the family had been at home.
As his hospital appointment was imminent, she suspended Nash’s sentence for 18 months.
The drug rehabilitation requirement of the order will continue under the direction of the Probation Service for nine months.
Nash must also complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) days.
The judge ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis plants.
