The Council has reopened the remaining 40 spaces in the Avon Street multi-storey car park, which had been closed last Friday morning due to vandalism.
A substantial amount of internal lighting had been vandalised and live electrical wires were exposed, leaving the multi-storey section of the car park unsafe for public use and meaning it had to be closed.
Council officers worked non-stop with electrical engineers to overcome the problems caused by the vandalism and re-open 400 spaces in the car park safely later the same day.
By reopening the remaining 40 spaces on level 3a of the multi-storey, car parking is now open up again to normal capacity.
Engineers are finishing off minor repairs and this may mean that small areas of the multi-storey are coned off on other levels to allow the work to be completed safely.
It is anticipated that all work will be completed by the end of Wednesday 10th December.
