Bath police have a new home as from today (Wednesday 16th December) after moving from the old station in Manvers Street after nearly 50 years, to new offices a short distance away at Redbridge House in Midland Road.
The new offices will be home to neighbourhood beat officers and frontline response teams, and will allow Avon and Somerset Police to carry out policing in and around the city with no disruption to the services they provide to the community.
However, there is no public front office at Redbridge House. Until 21st December, the existing front enquiry office in Manvers Street will remain open.
After that it will move to a new office at Bath and North East Council’s One Stop Shop opposite in Manvers Street.
It will be open from 8am-8pm every day and provide the same services as at the old enquiry office.
These include:
- Crime reporting;
- General policing enquiries;
- Road traffic collision reporting;
- Applications for firearms licences;
- Crime prevention advice;
- Lost and found property;
The police registration service offered at the old police station will also move to the One Stop Shop.
Local Policing Area Commander for Bath and North East Somerset, Chief Inspector Kevin Thatcher, said: “Police operations are very much remaining in Bath and our service will not be disrupted by these moves.
“The new enquiry office will give the public the chance to engage with us in a more welcoming environment and at a location where they can also access a range of other services.
“The enquiry service offered at the new facility will not differ from what is currently available at the police station. By co-locating with BANES [Council], we are able to limit costs to the public purse and also modernise the way we work.”
