Members of the Rotary Club of Bath have already raised over £10,000 to support people in Ukraine, with more to come from a street collection in the city centre this Saturday, 7th May.
The Club has been running its “Support Ukraine” campaign since the Russian invasion triggered millions of refugees and displaced persons within the country.
Together with donations from the Combe Down Holiday Trust, the Inner Wheel organisation, plus donations from members and the public, the local Rotary Club has already raised over £10,000.
Club President, Simon Spalding, said: “We’ve all been deeply troubled by the ongoing war in Ukraine. The humanitarian impact is severe, with up to five million fleeing their homes and in dire need of emergency aid.
“Innocent people have lost their lives, and families are being torn apart by war and violence.
“As an organisation which has peace as a cornerstone of our global mission, we stand with the people of Ukraine.
“All the money we raise is going to Rotary’s Disaster Response Fund, and will help refugees and those injured.”
The club is seeking additional volunteers to support the collection. Anyone willing to help can email the Rotary Club on @[email protected].
