The City of Bath ‘Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club’ was launched on Saturday 9th September, at The Red Lion Sizzler Pub on Wellsway, with visitors travelling from around the area to meet up.
A great turnout was achieved, with some members arriving from as far away as Chepstow, Lydney and Gloucester, as well as quite a few more locals.
The oldest member on the day was not only a Veteran of HM Forces, but had also survived the “Bath Blitz” of April 1942 as a young man.
A traditional “fry-up” was heartily enjoyed along with a lot of good humoured Forces “banter” and organisers now wish to extend an invitation to other Veterans living in the area to join them.
The club isn’t a charity or a business; no money is involved at all (apart from paying the venue for your meal), it is purely aimed at the welfare and support of its Breakfast Club members who have served their country.
Nationally, Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Clubs have representatives from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Royal Marines, Veterans, Reservists and Serving members. As long as you have a uniform service history, or association with such, turn up on the Saturday morning and you will be made very welcome.
